@jeff@davidcelis@left_adjoint Mastodon has 5 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees right now. Salaries vary by position, mine is 60k EUR. Most of the development is done by employees.
@JoBlakely If you want to continue using the other way I would recommend to not click the names but rather use the checkbox on the side to select people and then use the action at the top such as "Unfollow" or "Remove from followers".
@JoBlakely Oh, do you happen to be on the "Follows and followers" page within settings? Does the address bar say mastodon.social/relationships? If you are, I would recommend navigating to the "1.6K followers" tab on your profile instead. While it won't have the bulk unfollow option, it will be overall less confusing.
